Activiteiten / What I wish I had known about doing a PhD!
Dear students,
some of you may be considering doing a PhD after your Master. We know this is often an important and difficult choice to make, with personal questions that are not easy to answer. Why should I do a PhD? Which fields should I consider? How to apply for a PhD? What is it like to do a PhD in physics? What can one do afterward?
To help you with this choice, we have teamed up with PhD students working in different fields at IoP to organize a special event on this topic: "What I wish I had known about doing a PhD!".
They will give us their own answers to these questions, tell us about their personal experiences in their PhD so far, and share their tips.
The event will take place next week, on Wednesday 10 April at 17h00 in SP904 C0.05. Afterwards there will be some free drinks hosted by the nsa in the Brainwave so you can discuss with your fellow students or ask some remaining questions in a more casual setting.
Feel free to join and ask your own questions! We hope that hearing about others’ stories will help you with your own choice.
Best,
Abhishek, Rosa Sinaasappel, Clélia de Mulatier, and Shin’ichiro Ando
