Welcome to the NSA!

We are the students’ association for Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy students at the University of Amsterdam. We organise all kinds of activities for our members, like trips to foreign countries (and their universities) and for some years we have also been supplying study books. All members get a 10% discount on all books at the biggest bookstore of the Netherlands as well. We also organise numerous other social gatherings.

Unfortunately, at the moment most of our pages are only available in Dutch. But still, have a look around. The fact that most of us are Dutch should, of course, never frighten anyone, everyone speaks English and whatever language you speak you are always welcome!

Website

Most important probably is our front page where we post actual news concerning the association or the university in general.

We have lots of committees, for travel, for coffee, for parties, and many more. Here you can look at all our committees, although their pages are mostly in Dutch. Most of the committees organise special large events like for example a study trip or a hitchhiking competition.

Under the bar “Vereniging” you will find our contact address, all our committees and some details about our current board. Under the bar “Onderwijs” you can find a lot of information related to your education, about our book sales and you will find an exam archive called “Tentamenbank”. In here you will find practise material to help you study and learn for exams.

The bars “Foto’s”, “Activiteiten” and “Sponsors” speak for themselves, here you can see what is going on within our organisation and who is sponsoring us to keep us going. Scoop is our magazine which appears about every two months, it is mainly in Dutch but we would love to have some English articles to publish. If you enjoy writing feel free to contact the Scoop redaction at scoop @ nsaweb . nl !

Trips

The NSA organises an annual Wintersport trip for skiing and snowboarding as well as a trip to a foreign city at the end of April. We will go to the French alps this year and in April we will visit London and the universities of Cambridge and Oxford.

Location

The NSA has 2 rooms. We are currently working from our room in the JK building on the Roeterseilandcomplex (REC) because the education of all our students is based here. It is on the ground floor in room B:83, just on the left of the entrance. Feel free to visit us some times, there may even be some warm coffee! On the first floor we actually have free coffee for members, you can make it yourself in the kitchen of the cafeteria. If you are not a member yet we politely ask you to deposit the feeble amount of 20 cents!

When our classes have moved to the Science Park building you will be able to find us in our new room A 008 on the ground floor in wing A. Some of our stuff is already there but it is very unlikely to find any students there and the door will certainly be locked!

Membership

If you want to become a member, we ask you to pay the humble amount of five euro’s a year. You can do this by coming to our room or filling in the form that is attached here.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
